Reporting Roots:

I am a bilingual multi-platform politics reporter for National Public Radio based in Washington, D.C. I cover policy and politics stories from the White House briefing room, the halls of Capitol Hill and beyond the beltway.

Most recently I was an award-winning Food and Agriculture policy reporter at POLITICO focusing on Washington D.C. politics and policies and authoring Morning Agriculture. Though agriculture can seem like a technical beat, the reality is it affects everyday people multiple times a day.

In my roles, I am an immigration reporter, a climate reporter, a labor reporter, an equity-issues reporter and a trade reporter. Over the last three years in D.C., I have focused on covering the U.S. Department of Agriculture in an all-inclusive way -- traveling with the Secretary across the country, reporting on personnel issues and all of its programs and goals.

In 2022 I was selected to be a Paul Miller Fellow through the National Press Foundation.

 

Formerly, I was a breaking news and general assignment reporter for the Idaho Statesman where a part of my time was spent working a nightside shift while completing a day-time internship. I also teamed up with a colleague to spearhead Idaho's Spanish-language coronavirus news coverage through articles and public web panels.

 

While in college I was an award-winning journalist and editor for The Arbiter and a production specialist of E.W. Scripps at KIVI Idaho News 6, the Boise area ABC affiliate working the 4 a.m. shift. I also was selected to participate in the POLITICO Journalism Institute and to be a Washington Times newsroom intern for summer 2019 covering local D.C. news.
